Summer Holiday 2025: Our Family Itinerary Across Asia and Coming Home to Indonesia

Discover our 2025 summer holiday itinerary across Asia! From Bangkok’s vibrant streets to Bohol’s tropical charm, Taipei’s city vibes, and finally coming home to Indonesia with stops in Yogyakarta and Bali, here’s our full journey.

Traveling during summer is always exciting for our little family, but summer 2025 feels extra special, we are not only exploring some of Asia’s most vibrant cities, but also returning to my homeland, Indonesia. 

From exploring Chinatown in Bangkok, island hopping in the Philippines, street food adventures in Taipei, and cultural immersion in Yogyakarta, to finally soaking in Bali’s serene beauty, this trip is a blend of discovery and homecoming.

Here’s our full Asia summer holiday itinerary 2025:

✈️ Brussels to Bangkok (via Beijing)

• 26 July 2025: Depart Brussels with Hainan Air, transiting in Beijing for 14 hours. A long layover, but an interesting peek into China before continuing, we even able to visit The Great Wall of China during the layover.

• 27 July 2025: Arrive in Bangkok at 23:00. We’ll stay overnight at a transit hotel near the airport before moving into the city the next morning.

🇹🇭 Bangkok (3 Days)

📍 Hotel: Song Wat area

🗓️ 28 – 30 July 2025

Bangkok always has a special charm with its bustling markets, riverfront views, and golden temples. We’re planning to explore the local food scene, Wat Pho, and maybe a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River.

This time we concentrated our time to explore the China town of Bangkok that become a highlight of a hipsters. It was absolutely one cozy China Town. 

🇵🇭 Cebu & Bohol (Island Escape)

• 30 July: Fly from DMK Airport to Cebu with Cebu Pacific. Stay at The Ascott Limited Hotel.

• 31 July: Ferry to Bohol ⛴️, check in at the cozy Fox & The Firefly.

🗓️ 01 – 02 August 2025: Enjoy Bohol’s beauty—Chocolate Hills, Panglao beaches, and Tarsier sanctuaries are on our list.

🇹🇼 Taipei (City Adventures)

• 03 August: Fly via Manila to Taipei, check in at CitizenM Taipei Hotel.

• 04 – 07 August: Four full days in Taiwan’s buzzing capital.

We can’t wait to dive into night markets, bubble tea culture, and a day trip to Jiufen for those mountain and sea views.

🇲🇾 Kuala Lumpur (Transit Stop)

• 08 August: Fly with Batik Air to KL, stay at Tune Airport Hotel for a short overnight stop before heading to Java.

🇮🇩 Yogyakarta (Culture & Heritage)

• 09 August: Fly to Yogyakarta with Air Asia, stay at Svarna Padi in Kulon Progo.

• 10 – 13 August: Four full days to reconnect with Java’s cultural roots.

We explored Kulon Progo, Nanggulan to be exact. This is also a meaningful stop for us, because that was our first time seeing our ground overlooking a quiet rice field.

🇮🇩 Bali (Two Weeks of Bliss)

• 14 August: Fly Garuda Indonesia to Bali, starting with Hilton Airport before moving around the island.

Our Bali itinerary:

• Ubud (16 Aug) – Stay at Atelier Ubud Art Lofts, perfect for artsy vibes and rice fields.

• Karangasem (17 – 19 Aug) – Retreat at Kuta Kura Resort, with peaceful coastal scenery.

• Tabanan (20 – 22 Aug) – Relax at Umasari Rice Terrace Villa, surrounded by lush rice paddies.

• Batubelig (23 – 27 Aug) – End our Bali chapter near the beach, enjoying sunsets and slow mornings.

🇮🇩 Jakarta (Unexpected Chaos)

• 28 August: Our original plan was to explore Jakarta, but due to demonstrations and chaos in the city, we decided to stay safe at Anara Hotel, Terminal 3 Jakarta Airport.

🇶🇦 Doha (Unplanned Extra Day)

• 29 August: Our flight from Jakarta to Brussels (via Doha) was delayed, causing us to miss the connection. Instead, we had an unexpected extra day in Doha, making the best out of it with a short city visit.

• 31 August 2025: Finally back in Brussels, filled with beautiful memories from our Asia summer journey.
